We offer a range of classes throughout the year .
To Sign up you need to be a member , then you can register for a class. Once a spot comes up we contact you to see if you are ready to start.
Cabochon Class $65 - 6 weeks Monday or Tuesday Night 6-9pm
Silver Classes $175 - 6 Weeks Saturday mornings
Faceting Classes $75 - 6 Weeks Monday Nights 6-9pm
WELCOME
The mission of the Cairns Mineral & Lapidary Club is to foster an appreciation for earth sciences, geology, and lapidary. Our organisation wants to give people a chance to learn more about the fascinating world of minerals, gems, and fossils. We provide a variety of workshops and activities, including as faceting, cabochon instruction, gem identification, fossicking, and silver lessons.
Cabochon
the art of shaping rocks
Cabochon courses involve learning to cut shape and polish rocks. This course will teach you the skills to use the machines and work rocks into shapes that can be used for jewelry and household items. Once you have completed 4 rocks , you are free to use the work rooms for a small fee to continue to develop your skills .
